About the league
KLAX started with a simple idea: our kids need more opportunities to play lacrosse. We’re a group of parents, players, coaches, and lacrosse people who love the game and want to see it continue to grow in Kahnawake. We’ve watched our kids play, compete, learn, and develop through lacrosse, and we wanted to create more chances for them to do that, not just for a few months of the year, but all year long. So we decided to build something of our own. Kahnawake Lax (KLAX) is about creating a place where kids can play the game, get better, make friends, compete, and most importantly, have fun. Whether a player is picking up a stick for the first time or already dreaming about where lacrosse might take them, we want them to feel like there’s a place for them here. We believe the best way to learn lacrosse is to play lacrosse. Kids need time on the field. They need to make mistakes, try things, compete, figure things out, and learn how to play together. That’s what we want to give them. What We’re Offering: We’re starting with programs that give local players opportunities to keep playing throughout the year. This fall, KLAX is offering Field Lacrosse, giving players the chance to experience the full field game, develop their skills, learn the positions, and understand how the game comes together on a bigger field. Then, in the winter, we’re bringing the game indoors with our Winter 3-on-3 League. The league will feature three age groups: U9 Co-ed U11 Co-ed Girls U13/U15 The 3-on-3 format gives players lots of touches, plenty of opportunities to make plays, and a chance to develop their skills in a fast-paced environment. It’s a great way to keep sticks in kids’ hands through the winter and continue building confidence before the next season. But this is about more than developing better lacrosse players. We want our kids to learn what comes with being part of a team; showing up, working hard, supporting each other, handling wins and losses, and taking pride in representing their community. KLAX is still growing, and that’s part of the fun. We’re building this together, with our players, families, coaches, volunteers, and community behind us. Our hope is that years from now, kids who started with KLAX will look back and remember the games, the teammates, the coaches, the laughs, the tough losses, the big wins and the feeling of being part of something. We’re here to grow the game, create opportunities, and give the next generation a chance to fall in love with lacrosse the same way so many of us did. This is KLAX. Our game. Our community. Our future.
